DonWorks Pantry Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 September 2026

Overview

DonWorks Pantry is a local-first pantry management application developed by DonWorks Studio. Most pantry, grocery, meal-planning, recipe, timer, preference, import/export, and related information is stored locally on the user's device during ordinary local use.

Firebase, Analytics, and app identifiers

The production Android release uses Google Firebase services for app infrastructure and aggregate usage analytics. Opening DonWorks Pantry for ordinary local use does not create a Firebase Authentication user.

Firebase Analytics may collect app-instance identifiers, app usage events, device and operating-system information, and related technical information used to understand app operation and aggregate usage. DonWorks Pantry also records a privacy-limited local-start event and operating-mode value so DonWorks Studio can measure whether the app is being used without creating authentication accounts solely for counting users.

DonWorks Pantry does not place pantry item names, quantities, shopping-list contents, recipes, receipt text, or other ordinary Pantry content into the local-start analytics event. Android Advertising ID collection is disabled for the production release, and the release does not request Advertising ID permissions.

Local Pantry data

Ordinary pantry inventory and related Pantry data are stored locally on the device during normal use and are not uploaded to DonWorks Studio as part of that use.

Voice entry

If the user chooses to use Voice and grants microphone permission, spoken audio is handled by the Android speech-recognition service available on the device. Depending on that recognition provider, audio may be transmitted to remote servers to perform speech recognition.

Voice entry is optional. DonWorks Pantry can be used without granting microphone permission.

Camera, receipts, and files

Camera access is used for barcode and receipt scanning. Receipt OCR is processed on the device in the current release; receipt images and recognized receipt text are not uploaded to DonWorks Studio as part of that local OCR flow.

File access is used only when the user chooses to import or export Pantry data.

Barcode product lookup

When a barcode is not already known locally, DonWorks Pantry may send the product barcode to a third-party product-information service, such as Open Food Facts, to retrieve product information.

Announcements and public content

DonWorks Pantry may retrieve product announcements and other public static content from DonWorks Studio's public website infrastructure. These files contain product news, notices, and release information rather than private pantry content.

Service providers and data sharing

DonWorks Studio does not sell users' personal data. Data may be processed by service providers used to operate app functionality, including Google Firebase, the device's speech-recognition provider, Cloudflare for public static content, and product-information providers used for barcode lookups.

These services may receive standard network information, such as an IP address and technical request metadata, as necessary to provide their services.

The current data practices are described on this page. This policy and the app's disclosures will be reviewed and updated when app features, service providers, or data-handling practices materially change.

Local data retention and deletion

Pantry information stored locally remains on the device until the user deletes it, clears the app's storage, uses an available reset or deletion feature, or uninstalls the app. Device or operating-system backups may separately retain or restore app data according to the user's device settings.

Firebase Analytics and other service-provider records may be retained according to configured retention settings and the provider's operational, security, and backup processes.

Privacy and deletion requests

Users may contact DonWorks Studio at donworksstudio@gmail.com for privacy questions or assistance with data associated with the app. Local Pantry data can be removed by deleting the relevant data in the app, clearing application storage, or uninstalling the app.

Security

Network communication used by DonWorks Pantry and its supported services uses encrypted transport where supported. Reasonable technical safeguards are used, but no electronic system can guarantee absolute security.

Children

DonWorks Pantry is intended for adults and is not designed specifically for children.

Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when DonWorks Pantry features, data handling, or service providers change. The current version will remain published at this web address.
